Thank Goodness: A sigh of relief - No to the Olympics

A sigh of relief for many of us Madrileños who were terrorized that our city might become Olympic with all the consequences:

Even Higher Home prices already unacessible to most of us, higher taxes to pay for Olympic dept, large bills to pay for unused stadiums and even more crowded streets.

NOT FOR ME!!

What for? I'm not interested in seeing a bunch of gorillas on steroid invading my city.

This was just another example of how out of touch Spanish politicians are with Spain's reality. With half the country unemployed and half the working population unable to afford to buy a basic apartment, they go and spend our taxes on useless stuff like the Olympics. Even as every major international newspaper had warned that it was going to be unlikely a European city would be elected because London is the previous host. But these spanish politicians are so out of touch with real life that I'm sure they don't even read the newspaper.

OH, here's a cartoon figure of Madrid's Mayor.

He is famous for spending tax payers money moving tree's from the right side of the street to the left side of the street. Now I hope he stands by his words and resigns. We call him the big Vampire!!

Talking about vampire's ,one of the only brillant things Zapatero has done in his second mandate, has been allowing his children to be Goth's even when visiting Obama.

I love the picture and think it was a great idea that these kids can be the way they want to be and not look like the typical royalty puppets. Please don't worry about the privacy of the girls. They are not that small and in Spain we are not really interested in them. Wish their father was not just groovy with them but also with the battered people in Spain that will now suffer an increase in IVA TAX or VAT TAX. The one that goes to the European community: Bulgaria!!! As if we are so well off here! Dum! Dum! Dum!
