Jimi Jamison Live in Madrid 29 Nov 09 - Concert review and sample
His voice was so smooth and beautiful. The show was excelent. A little known spanish band - I don't think they are recording artists - called Indicco acted as first the opening band and then as the backing band for Jimi and they really did a fantastic job. It sounded great. This is a great way to bring over an artist who can come by himself with the addition of his main guitar player and a local band can provide the rest. Jimi's voice was at its best. Sometimes it was just better to be quiet so one could hear that beautiful voice. The spanish band had prepaired all Jimi's hits from Survivor on, including tracks that are not typically in Jimi's set like Rebel Son. They also played tracks from the new album like my favorite "Alive" and as a bonus they did a cover of ZZ Top's "Gimme All your Lovin" for which Jimi was the original backup singer. Very tight show. Oh, somebody gave him as a present a can of some food "local food??". Thats a good idea!!
This tangy Candy is hard to find in Spain. For some reason the manufacturer prefers placing their sweeter items in the stores. It is by a company called Golosinas Vidal . There are two versions, the one that is hard to find and which I like is the non filled one.

It must have been my third or fourth trip to Portugal. So the trip had to cover the areas I had missed so far including Madeira, but also Tomar and Evora.
Below image is of Tomar
Tomar was a 2 hour train ride from Lisbon and then 2 hours back. It was raining like hell. Despite that I liked it quite a lot. The monastery, which in the photo you can see me standing on it's roof, was simply amazing and beautiful. Usually I get a bit bored with churches and stuff but this monastery was enormous. The town itself was sort of cute with a river passing thru it. Unfortunately the train schedule meant I had to rush back to the train station and I missed seeing the aqcuaduct that is 7 KM outside the town.
Below image is of Evora at night
To go to Evora after Tomar, meant I had to be stuck for some hours in the Oriente station in Lisbon and the surrounding area which includes a huge Mall. The Oriente station is the one designed by the architect Calatrava. To be honest, it looks better in pictures than in person. The problem is that these structures based on metal and glass get dirty very quick and unlike buildings made with stone that look equaly nice when dirty, these Calatrava stuff looks cheap when dirty. To make things worst it was raining and 200 meters away there were kids lining up for a Rammstein concert under the rain !!
Evora was a very nice surprise. It had way more to offer than I had expected. Probably due to careful and good zone and building planning, no annoying tall or horrible buildings have been allowed, keeping the towns original charm. The only week part of Evora is the walk from the train station to the town center.
Why Did God Create Badajoz? O Purre La Versione Spagnola di Perche Dio Ha Fatto La Calabria?
Probably due to state propaganda during Franco's era, many Spaniards imagine Portugal as similar to Spain, just a bit poorer.
I was not there in the 70's to testify to it, but if true, they sure have caught up really fast and are much better than Spain in many ways. For example their unemployment rate is much lower than Spain. It is also interesting to see how some of the former Eastern Block countries have quickly improved in these years and again many of them surpassing Spain. This is the example of Slovenia. I met a guy from there and afterwards in half embarasment I went rushing to Wikipedia to read about the country I knew zip about. Well their GDP is waaay better than the one for Spain. This story all because I was in Evora Portugal and all was neat and the City was beautiful and tastefully maintained. Then 2 hours later I arrived to Badajoz Spain. Sorry, but what a dumpster of a town. Two beautiful bridges and then the rest of the town are just ugly apartment buildings. Nothings left of the Alcazaba. It left me a very poor impression after coming from Evora which impressed me quite a lot. In Badajoz, I went to visit the town but because their bus station is located long ways away from the city center I arrived to the bus station at 4:05 to find out there are NO buses or trains after 4pm sharp to Madrid. What sort of third world country is this that a major town has no buses or train to it's capital city after 4pm?
Dario is In Madeira Island - [ESP] Un viaje ideal y cercano
Finally arrived to Funchal. Very beautiful with lots of historical buildings and the place is very calm. Few people on the street, except for fans of Athletic de Bilbao that have come to watch a game here. The hotel has free WiFi and the room cost only 20 Euros !! You should see the beautiful view to the park!!!
The search box Does NOT WORK properly . It may or may not give the correct results. In many cases it ignores many existing pages and entries.
The best way to find the content you are searching for is to BROWSE using the two set of topic menus that appear on the right hand column of this website. There are two menus , the first one is for general topics, such as Spain Charts, stories of my travels, .... . The second menu, further down is for i--ranian 70s music.
Do NOT browse using the tags you see under each individual post. Some of the tags or labels under individual posts are placed only for technical reasons as a requirement from some news sites that automatically index my site. Instead, to find content on my site, browse the menus on the right-hand column.
Additionally the only fully updated menus are the ones on the very first page of the site. That is, the entry page to the site.
So before browsing the menus, locate yourself at exactly the following address:

The menu on any OTHER page or subpage of the site or related sites can potentially be out of date.
The different pages and files of this site are hosted on three different domains:
www.dariointernet.com
www.irannostalgia.com

There is no relation between the topic and the domain in which they are hosted.
If you must search, the best results are obtained by going to Google and typing the following command:
+(site:www.dariointernet.com OR site:www.irannostalgia.com OR site:updatesdario.blogspot.com) +"string you are searching for"
Or you can search each of the 3 domains separately:
