Update number 3 on the progress of Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela)- End of July 2010
I post an update note here whenever there is some progress or delay with my first Farsi song, recording and release: آتیش بزنش (Bailatela).
Previous updates can be read in: previous post 1 and
Previous post 2 .
Today I recorded final versions of electric guitar on the recording. It was a headache, because one thing is to play guitar live, another thing is to do it for a studio recording. This is because in a studio recording your fingers cannot touch any other string as it must sound clean. This is something I had not thought of before.
It will not be until end of October 2010 before the recording becomes available. Here is the past and future scheduled work for the project:
Things done in the past:
- Decided the key to use for the song and the chord progressions.
- Gathered some material for the lyrics
- Wrote the song (End of May 2010)
- wrote solo electric guitar arrangement
- Quick raw demo
- Track setup and layout for definitive recording
- Percussion sounds chosen
- Electric bass guitar written and recorded.
- lead and rhythm electric guitar recorded.
Things still pending:
- synthesizer playing the notes of the lead vocals as a guide. week of July 26
- chord keyboards week of July 26
- fine tune drum programming. Add extra snare and drum roll sounds. week of July 26
- Apply effects on previously recorded guitar lines, etc. week of July 26
- Complete the layout of the recording, copy-pasting all parts. week of August 2
- Find studio for vocal recording. week of August 2
- Record vocals week of August 16
- Write and record solo synth arrangements around vocals. week of August 23
- Mix the recording. week of August 23
- Research location for video shooting week of August 30
- video ideas research week of August 30
- video story board week of August 30
- scout for a model week of September 6
- video recording week of September 13
- video editing week of September 20
- video / audio distribution and promotion research. week of September 27
- library of congress week of September 27
- graphics work week of October 4

Quick stop in FARO Portugal
On my way back from Sweden to Spain, I made a connection flight thru FARO, Portugal. Because there was enough time between flights and the airport is only 7KM from the city, I went for a 4 hour visit of the old town of FARO.
It looks like Algarve is the poorest region of Portugal. Faro does have a historical section, and it is interesting if you are already in the region. But it is too small and has too few old historical streets and buildings to justify a trip down there just for that. For the most part it is a collection of ugly out-of-place apartment buildings for British people looking for a vacation place consisiting only of sun and beaches that is cheap and not much more.
So, I would say, it was semi-dissapointing

I am in Stockholm for the weekend
Just arrived in Stockholm Sweden to spend the weekend. It is 10 pm.
Actually I am positively surprised. It looks much more fun and interesting than I could have imagined. The historic section is quite large and there are lots of people in the streets and the place has lots of character.

There are people in the streets until 2 AM and it is warm in summer. It has a large promenade and many walking sections along the waterfront. There is metro, though it is expensive at around 3 Euros a ride. Surprisingly, there are also poor homeless people in the street. Namely one guy in a wheelchair was singing Morrissey songs to an instrumental tape. The airport for the cheap airlines is Skavsta and its a little air strip, probably some military airport and it is 1 hour 30 minutes away!! The bus ride was more expensive than the flight!
At one of the bars I noticed this tiny room full of people. From far it looked like a sauna room. I finally asked and it turned out that it was "the smoking room". Apparently that is the only place people are allowed to smoke at.

World Cup Trophy Parade July 12 2010 Madrid Spain My photos and video
I went to see the truck with the players of Spain holding the World Cup trophy.
Here are the pictures and video I took.
Dario M: By the time the Champions truck reached the corner of San Bernardo and Gran Via it was 9:15 pm. I doubt the truck can reach the final stage before 11 PM
Dario: The World Cup passed 10 feet in front of me. It is shiny.
Dario: Iniesta and Torres look like little kids. Iker looked really tired and there were girls chasing the truck calling his name! It was funny. The extra goal keeper and Pique where the ones partying the most and playing with the crowd.

Spain Finalist of WoldCup 2010
World Cup is going on these days. Octopus Paul has predicted that Spain will be the World Cup winner and everybody is going crazy with him.
Until few weeks ago I was skeptical of seeing Spain ever win the World Cup in my lifetime. I've followed them in 9 world cups. In the German World Cup I even attended one of the matches live. This year it looked more of the same, with Spain having really annoying sports media and even more annoying TV commentators. They started loosing and then they couldn't play well after that either. They won their last match of the first round thanks to the mistakes of the rival team Chile whose goal keeper was at fault for Spain's first goal. Chile made also the mistake of playing violently resulting in a red card early in the match. After that it was easy for Spain. Portugal the team Spain met in the next round was not a very good team with the exception of their hunky goalkeeper! With Paraguay, Spain can give thanks to the referee who disqualified a legal goal for Paraguay and awarded Spain a penalty that was not. Spain was superior but was not playing well.
Spain had reached the semifinals and a common comment in the international press was: "I had never seen a team playing so badly reach so high".
The below images are from Gran Via street in Madrid right after Spain won over Paraguay and qualified for Semi Finals of the World Cup. It coincided with Pride 2010, so there was a mixture of fans of Kylie Minogue who was playing a free concert and football fans that wanted to party!! What a mix !! Kylie couldn't be heard from far though because the speakers where placed in the wrong direction. The best part was a guy that was waiving a red UGT (Workers Union) flag all the time!!

It was a pleasant surprise to see that Spain decided to play well right in the hardest game of all against Germany in the Semi Finals of the World Cup. Spain played beautifully beating Germany which had won 4-0 over Argentina and 4-1 against England. I watched the game and commented it live on Facebook. This is how the World Cup is watched in 2010.

As mentioned in a previous post, I am working on my first Farsi language song and recording, which is called: آتیش بزنش (Un Baile Más).
The song which has already been written has the verses sung in Spanish while the chorus (owj) is in Farsi.
This past weeks my laptop caught a virus and I had to reformat it and as a consequence I had to rebuild my studio all over again, causing a delay in the project, which now is due in October 2010.
I have now renewed work on it. After the initial demo-ing which includes a real electric guitar solo, I am now working on the definitive recording. All going very slowly. The image above is of my soar fingers after I played bass guitar on the track. The bass line is not finished as the song has many parts. One thing for sure I've learned is that you have to write down absolutely everything as memory plays tricks on us. As you see the recording will have real instruments unlike these cheap recordings others do these days which are made only with keyboards. Anyway, a very long ways to go yet. Just tracking the progress of this project here.

The best way to find the content you are searching for is to BROWSE using the two set of topic menus that appear on the right hand column of this website. There are two menus , the first one is for general topics, such as Spain Charts, stories of my travels, .... . The second menu, further down is for i--ranian 70s music.
Do NOT browse using the tags you see under each individual post. Some of the tags or labels under individual posts are placed only for technical reasons as a requirement from some news sites that automatically index my site. Instead, to find content on my site, browse the menus on the right-hand column.
Additionally the only fully updated menus are the ones on the very first page of the site. That is, the entry page to the site.
So before browsing the menus, locate yourself at exactly the following address:

The menu on any OTHER page or subpage of the site or related sites can potentially be out of date.
The different pages and files of this site are hosted on three different domains:
www.dariointernet.com
www.irannostalgia.com
updatesdario.blogspot.com
There is no relation between the topic and the domain in which they are hosted.
If you must search, the best results are obtained by going to Google and typing the following command:
+(site:www.dariointernet.com OR site:www.irannostalgia.com OR site:updatesdario.blogspot.com) +"string you are searching for"
Or you can search each of the 3 domains separately:
