Days of Anxiety ... and then some flamenco fiest for the eyes Been going through some horrible days since April 27, 2011. Lots of Anxiety and worries. And no one to turn to. No one to listen or help me. Amidst all these ugly feelings and anxiety, life awarded me with this gorgeous sight at night in Cordoba where they where holding a flamenco show for free in one of their plaza's. May 2011

60's Beat Black is Black cover in HINDI & as a backing track for El Luis (Flamenco) The 60's hit song "Black is Black" had a notorious rhythm track that everybody can immediately recognize. In this post I present two recordings you may not know that are based on Black is Black. First comes 70's flamenco star El Luis , a very interesting artist born in Galicia Spain, that however grew up in Argentina and finally started his career in Spain. His recording "yo te lo digo cantando" is one of my favorites. However, here we are to talk about another of his hits called Beibe, no huyas mas ( Baby, don't escape anymore). It takes the rhythm track of black is black and delivers on top of it a raw and tough flamenco vocal performance with new melody and lyrics. The recording is from 1977. Las Grecas en Turco ( in Turkish ) !!!! 1975   One of Spain's biggest success stories in modern music was the female duo Las Grecas about which I had written previously here . Their first two LP's from 1974 & 1975 produced by Jose luis de Carlos had heavy metal, psychedlic guitars and drums clashing with the wild voice of Edelina Muñoz Barrull (Tina ) (RIP). I was happily shocked to discover a really amazing vinyl 45rpm ( 45 devir) by a female Turkish artist called Perihan doing a very nice cover version of a Las Grecas song. The original of the song is Negros son tus ojos writer being Muñoz from Las Grecas 1975 second album called Mucho Mas . The title of the turkish version is Nerden Nereye . Escuchar Muestra Incompleta 0:55 LISTEN TO A SAMPLE 0:55 seconds of the Turkish version نمونه صوتي The first release of "mucho mas" included this poster: Here is a sample of the original version recorded first by Las Grecas : Escuchar Muestra I...

They were instrumental in the creation of the Flamenco Rock music style. Their debut album, from 1974, was called " gipsy rock ". It was the successful attempt of CBS Spain producer Jose Luis De Carlos to create flamenco influenced rock music. The result was an astonishing, powerful, psychedelic rockin' mix of anglo rock and gipsy flamenco roots. We are not talking here about acoustic spanish guitars, but rather rockin' Wah Wah fuzztone guitars and a blasting backing band ...
