Dario's Top 4 Favorite India / Punjab Songs List

Image
Dario's Top 4 Favorite India / Punjab Songs List dariointernet.com Summary : Every time I travel to a new country that has an interesting musical culture, I also investigate their pop music. This you can see clearly in Dario's selection of the 600 Best songs ever , which is very internationally oriented and not so anglo/american like lists by most vulgar music reviewers. When I visited Turkey , I made myself interested in their music and discovered artists like Erkin Koray . When I visited Greece , I involved myself and discovered artists like Paxalis Terzis which regular people in western Europe and US have never heard of. When I visited Egypt I discovered music by Libanese artist Ragheb Alama who has amazingly elaborate productions. Now that I was going to visit India I had to learn about music in India. I discovered some good stuff, which I list here for you, but was also a bit disappointed. First of all, regarding Hindi music, it is difficult to discover artist...

Dario in India - Day 1 & 2

Image
My india experience has finally started. The airplane arrived in Delhi and the first bumppy part of the trip started. I had planned to sleep in the airport before taking a local flight in the morning. But one quick look at the minusculous, noisy, fully lit arrival hall, I realized that I needed to figure a plan B really quickly. Which took me to sleep at a slightly overpriced hotel YMCA Triangle Family Hostal. The only interesting thing was that from the hotel window the view was on a Sikh temple which unfortunatelly was fully functional all night!! Next day I took a local flight. The Terminal 1B of their domestic airport is also minusculous and crowded. The whole airport domestic and international is a scary dusty mess. But the flight went well and I am now in Khajuraho , and the first beautiful part of the trip started. Heres my picture in Khajuraho: Yes a happy smile even on my face is possible, even thought the temples can easily be seen in 1 day. So dont listen to people tha...

Parsi 1940's classical instrumental 78rpm ۷۸ دور made in Bombay भारत गणराज्य

40's classical instrumental 78rpm ۷۸ دور made in Bombay भारत गणराज्य artist: A. Zahedi a: Nar-e Shirin b: ? 1945 Label: Young Iran Comment : Persian violin instrumental played by khaledi tarkamoosi Format: 78rpm Country: India Bombay Click below for Audio Sample (0:55) : AUDIO SAMPLE Part of a conversation with a music expert friend of mine giving me some advice on my trip to India G.A. : I once found an Iranian 78rpm in Delhi. The label was Young Iran . A label set up by a Parsi person in Bombay. They released a limited number of a string of 78rpm records in 1940s and faded away. These records were sold mainly in Iran, pressed in Bombay and exported mainly to Iran (the rest sold for Parsi interest in India. I'm sure you know that there used to be a strong Parsi minority in India). MORE persian 78rpms More بیشتر iranian persian 78rpms بیشتر iranian persian 78rpms بیشتر iranian persian 78rpms

List of India भारत गणराज्य Hindi / Punjabi Sounding Persian Songs with Tabla

Image
A List of India भारत गणराज्य Hindi / Punjabi Sounding Persian Songs with Tabla I'm preparing for my visit to India. Just yesterday I went for vaccination and received 4 shots, two in each arm, plus anti-malaria medicine that I will have to take during the trip. So I am compiling the music I will take on my Walkman during the trip. Along with the indian material, I want to take with me some iranian pop with indian flavour. For those of you who understand music, you know what I mean. Persian pop music with indian tabla percussion, mid range tempo 100BPM to 124 BPM. In other words, normal, non-miki mouse speed. Now I'm not being a purist, I know some of these are more "afghan" than "indian", but you get the idea. Here are some examples: 1. Soli - Negar (Ey yaar-e Man)   2. Googoosh - Man aamadeham 3. Nooshafain - Nazanin E Ashegh   4. Betti - Jodaee (on her new album)  5. Nelli - ki bood Ki bood 6. Gitti - Geryeh ( dokhtari dareh geryeh mikoneh )  ...

Trip to INDIA is on its way: Already have the visa .... The other day I got my visa for India . They charge a minimum of 50 Euros for it in Spain. Two trips to the embassy were needed. 1 hour wait just to turn in the passport, then a week of waiting, then an hour wait to pickup the passport. Well, now with the Visa at hand, my trip to India is really going to happen finally. Now I only have to begg the boss for vacation days. Ha Ha!!

70's Rangarang Nelli sings Farsi over Biddu Orchestra

Image
70's Rangarang Nelli in Farsi VS Biddu updatesdario.blogspot.com Summary : Persian iranian cover version of Biddu Orchestra. 70`s singer As I am preparing my upcoming trip to India , I played the persian 70s song "Ki bood" by Nelli نلی feautering indian tablas and sitar to my music expert friend Gokhan, who unimpressed reminded me that it is not an original song but a cover version of "Eastern Journey" by Biddu Orchestra , an instrumental from 1978. I've made the following video mix comparing the two versions. It also serves as a response to a site that keeps stealing record jackets from this site. The sound on the Nelli portion has been repaired by me. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE (Video Raa Bebinid):

Bollymadrid festival Barrio Lavapies Madrid June 08 Walking through the Lavapies neighbourhood in Madrid I stumbled upon the BollyMadrid festival. A really nice surprise. Indian food, music, concerts. The setting next to the Meson de Paredes market was very interesting too. Heres a short video clip:
