Video Location Scouting for the clip of my song Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela)

Image
Video Location Scouting in Madrid for the clip of my song Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela) For couple of days now, I have been trying to figure out how to approach the video for my upcoming song آتیش بزنش Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela) . There are two possible ways to do the video. One option is to give it to someone else who has done other videos. The other option is to do it myself hiring the necessary people, such as, the Camera Operator, etc. I'll talk about that a bit later. Today I was location scouting for the video. I got out on the street taking pictures of possible locations. The key is that the place has to look very "Spain" . It also has to meet some other technical details, like, few people walking around, large enough space in front, etc.. One common theme in Madrid: It is hard to find a nice monument that is not under construction, or covered up in graffiti. Madrid, the city that is always under construction and can never be enjoyed, thanks to Mr.Vampire, our m...

Finished recording my song "Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela)"

Finished recording my song "Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela)" The recording was finished September 18, 2010 and I went and celebrated it at the Lucybell concert that night in Parque de Atracciones of Madrid. Between investigating, writing, arranging, learning studio software and recording it took 7 months along-side my real office day-job. Mixing is still pending and mastering if I decide to do that is pending too. The track sounds great and interesting I think. Despite that, today, I woke up quite depressed because a new stage starts with this track which brings some anxiety: how to make the video and how to promote it. For this one has to interact more with external people and you get the whole range of people from plane rude to nice.

Vocals have arrived sun-splashed from Florida

Vocals have arrived sun-splashed from Florida. Man, when I first heard them I said, the engineer must be nuts. But after listening to them in the mix they make so much sense!! So electronic ...

Strings Patch Drove Me Crazy !!!!

Image
Strings Patch Drove Me Crazy !!!! Strings Patch Drove Me Crazy !!!! Another 2 or 3 hours were spent today in order to achieve only 3 seconds of musical arrangements. This time it was because a "Strings" patch - sound font - gave me a nasty surprise. I loaded it into Pro Tools and started playing what would be the string arrangement that introduces the chorus. Anyway, I know the chords of the song and have them written down. I was sure that the final chord before the chorus was a "G" major. But after loading the "String Patch", I would click the "G" key on the keyboard, but it would not match the rest of the recorded music. I told myself, maybe I wrote the chords down wrong or something!! But after some tests it became clear that the patch was not right. Then I thought maybe I had unexpectedly pressed some button that lifts the sound by 1 note or changes the pitch by one note... But even after resetting the patch was still playing an ...

Update 6 on Atish Bezanesh Recording. Two hours work for a 3 seconds arrangement. Plus Saw Lead Synth Sound Brings Memories

Image
Update 6 on Atish Bezanesh recording. Two hours work for a 3 seconds arrangement. Plus Saw Lead Synth Sound Brings Back Memories Today it took me 2 hours to create a small guitar/keyboard arrangement that only lasts 3 seconds . However, it sounds super cool . It is part of my work on my first Farsi song and recording called آتیش بزنش (Bailatela) - romanization: Atish Bezanesh - . When originally I made my planning, I had optimistically thought that the keyboard arrangements would take me only a week, part-time, to write and record. However, now it is clear that this takes way longer. I was so naive to think that I would just switch the keyboard and start playing. I forgot that one has to select sounds carefully and then even modify these sounds to make them appropriate for the recording. Talking about synth sounds, while searching for sounds I stumbled upon the Nice Saw Lead sound which is sort of like the moog sound. I used it for the entire bridge section of the song...

Recorded Vocals in a Studio for my first Farsi song ATISH BEZANESH

Image
Update number 4 on the progress of Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela)- Beginning of August 2010 I am working slowly but surely on my first Farsi recording and release called آتیش بزنش (Bailatela) . I just returned from a studio where I recorded the vocals. The vocals had to be recorded in a proper studio because only they have those high-end phantom microphones you see in the picture below. The picture was taken during the recording session. It was too warm in there. The engineer Mike, however was very nice. I got lucky. Previous updates can be read in the links below: : The song is expected to be ready mid October 2010. Previous post 3 . Update post # 2 . Update 1

Update number 3 on the progress of Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela)- End of July 2010

Image
Update number 3 on the progress of Atish Bezanesh (Bailatela)- End of July 2010 I post an update note here whenever there is some progress or delay with my first Farsi song, recording and release: آتیش بزنش (Bailatela). Previous updates can be read in: previous post 1 and Previous post 2 . Today I recorded final versions of electric guitar on the recording. It was a headache, because one thing is to play guitar live, another thing is to do it for a studio recording. This is because in a studio recording your fingers cannot touch any other string as it must sound clean. This is something I had not thought of before. It will not be until end of October 2010 before the recording becomes available. Here is the past and future scheduled work for the project: Things done in the past: - Decided the key to use for the song and the chord progressions. - Gathered some material for the lyrics - Wrote the song (End of May 2010) - wrote solo electric guitar arrangement - Quick raw demo - Track...

Progress on Atish Bezanesh ( Un Baile Mas) project July 2010

Image
As mentioned in a previous post , I am working on my first Farsi language song and recording, which is called: آتیش بزنش (Un Baile Más). The song which has already been written has the verses sung in Spanish while the chorus (owj) is in Farsi. This past weeks my laptop caught a virus and I had to reformat it and as a consequence I had to rebuild my studio all over again, causing a delay in the project, which now is due in October 2010. I have now renewed work on it. After the initial demo-ing which includes a real electric guitar solo, I am now working on the definitive recording. All going very slowly. The image above is of my soar fingers after I played bass guitar on the track. The bass line is not finished as the song has many parts. One thing for sure I've learned is that you have to write down absolutely everything as memory plays tricks on us. As you see the recording will have real instruments unlike these cheap recordings others do these days which are made only with ke...
